SRI SRINIVASA SANKARA NETHRALAYA , TIRUPATI

Sri Srinivasa Sankara Nethralaya Trust, a non profitable charitable trust was established by TTD in the year 2009, with a view to provide Ophthalmology services to its employees, their dependants, public and pilgrims. TTD has requested Sankara Nethralaya (Unit of Medical Research Foundation, Chennai) to setup an eye care centre in the hospital premises of TTD central Hospital, Tirupati which will function through Sri Srinivasa Sankara Nethralaya Trust.

The eye care facilities is located in the 2 nd floor of TTD central hospital and is managed by the management committee consisting of members nominated by the Executive Officer, TTD and Medical Research Foundation, Chennai.

Sri Srinivasa Sankara Nethralaya Trust has provided adequate funds to meet the capital expenditure for Equipments, Instruments and other assets required for running eye care facility. It is also providing funds to meet regular and recurring expenditure for running the eye care facility.

Sankara Nethralaya on its part has deputed required number of Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Physician, Anesthetist and non medical staff to run the facility.

Sankara Nethralaya has also extended its Hospital Management System (HMS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system for smooth functioning of the facility.

This center provides comprehensive Ophthalmic outpatient services including inpatient services for Cataract surgery. The center also has the following special diagnostic / therapeutic treatment facilities:

Fundus Fluorescein Angigraphy (FFA)

• Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
• Humphrey Visual Fields (HVF)
• Laser for Posterior segment diseases
• YAG laser
• Digital Biometric Reader (DBR) with Pachymetry

Inpatient services have state of the art Operation Theatres (2 Nos) with latest Microscopes, Phaco-emulsification systems & autoclaves along with separate wards for Male and Female patients.

TTD employees and pensioners and their dependants, white ration card holders among public and pilgrims are provided with free treatment with reference to the facilities available in the hospital.

The trust also runs free eye clinic weekly once at Ashwini Hospital, Tirumala.

Since the commencement of services in September 2009, the SSSN eye care center has already seen more than 10,000 outpatients and performed more than 500 cataract surgeries (till September’11).
